“They say love and forgiveness are our greatest salvations in this world. I hope not. Love and forgiveness might just be one thing that will forever break me.”
When I started the book, I wasn’t ready for this story. Sure, I read the synopsis, but I don’t believe that it really prepares you for what’s to come! I found myself more than once muttering WTF while reading, it was one mindfuck after the other! So, beware you won’t be ready, but the book won’t disappoint you!!!
Phoenix was a successful psychiatrist, happily married and content with her life before everything changed. In one night, she lost her life as she knew it. Being accused of killing a woman, everyone turned on her, first of all her husband, the person she thought would be there for her always. Sadly, prison is not her biggest problem. The husband of the woman she allegedly killed, promised her eternal misery and he’s ready to deliver. Zachary King lost his wife, his angel. He’s angry, livid actually, especially after finding out that the woman that killed his Angelica got a deal. His only mission from now on, to make Phoenix’s life a living hell. Nothing will stop him from delivering his vengeance.
Zach’s ruthlessness knows no boundaries. My heart was constantly breaking for Phoenix. I never get emotional while reading, but the hand she was dealt was excruciatingly painful. I can understand that Zach’s grief blackened his mind, but I can’t forget his actions. That’s why I found myself wondering, how could I like this character? How can Phoenix ever give him a chance? There are so many things linking them, more of what I initially thought.
“I think the land where sinners atone is here. But we just can’t see it, blinded by the pain.”
V.F. Mason delivers an extraordinary story. From the serial killer, to the connection between Zach and Phoenix, the book was so so good! I kept guessing who the unsub was, and I have to say that after some clues I was sure about their identity. However, there are many things in the story I didn’t see coming. I don’t want to say more, so I don’t spoil the story. What I’ll say is that if you are a fan of criminal shows and want a sizzling romance to go with it, then you’ve just found your next favorite read!!!!!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
V.F.Mason always loved reading books and had quite a few fights with her momma over the genre she liked (romance, duh!) She studied filmmaking and thought that would feed her desire for stories, but that didn’t happen. Finally, when she was tired of all those voices in her head, she sat down and wrote a book. It was a huge decision to make and she thanks her friends and family for supporting her in it. When she is not writing, she can be found with her friends doing all sorts of crazy things or reading recent romance books that were written by her favorite authors.
Do you enjoy your romance with a suspense twist?
Until next time..Demetra xx
