First I’ll like to thank the publicist for offering me a copy of this book and the author for sending it! It was a pleasure to read this book (this is my honest opinion)

So this was a really interesting read! I used to read more crime fiction books but after starting reading romance and got hooked, I stopped. Reading this book actually reminded me my love for mystery and crime books!

I started by reading the synopsis and I was kind of confused with all the characters that were mention there. That’s when I realize that there is a book previous to this one, and even though I read this one first, I’m going to read the previous one as well! If you are new to this series, I recommend reading Pigeon-Blood Red first, so it will be easier to understand the connection between Rico and Paul.

Rico is a hitman/enforcer with a conscience; he doesn’t believe in hurting women and kids, so killing Sandra is a big no. After all, he has his hands full searching the attacker that hurt his female friend and dealing with another hitman.

I liked all the characters. Ed Duncan managed to write a likable hitman-Rico and tell his story while giving his readers a plot full of action, mystery and the right amount of twists to keep me at the edge of my seat!

The pace of the book is pretty good and the killing scenes are not too graphic. All in all, “The Last Straw” is a really interesting book, that I would recommend to every lover of the genre!
