Buddy Read: Every Last Breath (The Dark Elements #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Hello everyone!

Another buddy read with Jamsu comes to an end…Even though I wasn’t as interactive as in the first one due to my exams, I hope she enjoyed it as much as I did. For me this was a first-time read of “The Dark Elements” and I’m glad Jamsu finally made me get around to reading them!

SYNOPSIS

Some loves will last ’til your dying breath

Every choice has consequences—but seventeen-year-old Layla faces tougher choices than most. Light or darkness. Wickedly sexy demon prince Roth, or Zayne, the gorgeous, protective Warden she never thought could be hers. Hardest of all, Layla has to decide which side of herself to trust.

Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin—the deadliest of demons—has been unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her…including her best friend. To keep Sam from a fate much, much worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with the enemy while saving her city—and her race—from destruction.

Torn between two worlds and two different boys, Layla has no certainties, least of all survival, especially when an old bargain comes back to haunt them all. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side—and then fight like hell…

MY REVIEW

4.5 Stars

Format: Ebook

After reading book 2, I was a little disapponted from the series. However, the third book totally changed my mind and it’s definitely my favorite on of the series!

This book answered so many of my questions and gave me an acceptable conclusion to each of the characters’ stories. Even though I still don’t like Zayne, it was good to see him starting a friendship woth Stacey. I like how this book focused on the friendships between the characters; Roth and Cayman, Stacey and Layla. Both Roth and Layla, have friends that would die for them and stand by them against anything!

It looks like Zayne is getting his book this year but I don’t know if I’m going to read it too since I don’t like him very much 😅

  1. It’s scary how similar our feelings and thoughts about these books are 😅 I’m glad i’ve made you read these and Obsession. Next I need to read The Darkest Star which I hope is as good as Lux series.

  2. Personally I hated Zayne. Totally and with a fiery passion. The only reason I’m even considering reading his book is because I hope for new Roth and Bambi scenes. And Layla too, but mostly Roth. I am also somewhat curious to see what the repercussions of Zayne being almost soulless are. I agree that this book answered a lot of questions, I just wish we could have gotten a ton more Roth scenes. Great review!
